Vita - Elena Olenchyk
Elena Olenchyk , born in Lugansk, Ukraine, started her musical education at the Lugansk municipal music school. Having attended music college classes for domra, piano and conducting, Elena brought her skills to perfection at the Kiev National Chaikowsky Music Academy which she passed with distinction.

From 1997 to 1998 Elena held a scholarship of the President of the Ukraine. In 1997 she won the Grand Prix of the International Competition of Chamber Music in Poland. In the same year she was among the winners of the International Competition for domra in Kiev.

Between 2000 and 2005 Elena studied mandolin and baroque mandolin at the Wuppertal Conservatoire under Gertrud Weyhofen and Marga Wilden-Hüsgen.

In 2004 she gained her artistic degree with distinction, in 2005 she completed her graduate recital.

In the very same year Elena won the "Yasuo Kuwahara" award of the International Mandolin Contest in Schweinfurt, Germany.

Elena acts as a lecturer for mandolin seminars and gives concerts as a soloist and as one of the members of the Opus I duo.

During her concert tours she has visited Austria, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Spain, the Ukraine, and Japan. She has been producing CD's and radio broadcasts for the German WDR and HR radio stations. For a couple of years she has been a member of the Luxembourg "forum musicale", of the Austrian "Klangforum Wien", and of the Duesseldorf "No Tabu" group.

The Frankfurt Opera and the Wiesbaden Staatstheater are her musical home.

From 2004 to 2005 Elena was a member of the Ivan Rebroff ensemble.
